Siemens - Understanding the landscape of ultrasound devices in semi-rural Indian markets

User Research, Market Analysis, Concept Solutions

Context:

Siemens wanted to understand the landscape of ultrasound devices in semi-rural Indian markets. The goal was to identify challenges faced by doctors, medical staff and administrators of medical centers and highlighting opportunity areas for Siemens.

My Role:

I led qualitative research and conducted the same with medical staff and doctors in 3 locations, as specified. To understand the landscape and the experience, contextual inquiry and in depth interviews were held. Over 4 medical facilities were recruited for each location. I synthesized the data collected to inform the current experience of medical staff including doctors, nurses, administrative medical staff, etc. This led to a clear understanding of the product lifecycle of ultrasound devices in facilities. I developed the product lifecycle and opportunity spaces within the lifecycle for Siemens.

Designing Concepts through Brainstorming

I facilitated brainstorming workshop for each of the opportunity spaces, in which we brought in people from Siemens and other designers. These ideas were then condensed (using a criteria) and made sense by the team and developed into basic concepts, that were shared with Siemens.
